One year ago today, on April 6, 2019, I married the love of my life in the desert. We spent our one-year dating anniversary in Joshua Tree & fell in love with its beauty & quirkiness. It was the perfect place that now holds so many more memories for us. Apart from it being the most beautiful, perfect day of my life, it was also super interesting being on the other side as a bride myself!
Our engagement was only 6 months, of which I spent nearly every night up late puzzling pieces together. Can I confess something? I freakin LOVED planning this dream wedding of mine, and I honestly miss overanalyzing the logistics of everything;) I added personal touches to make the day as sustainable as possible– using biodegradable confetti, appetizer plates, napkins & cups & thrifting nearly all of our decor which was of upmost importance to me. I played this day so many times in my head, and while of course looking back there were a few things I’d have changed (mostly from an aesthetics point of view #photographerproblems), we wouldn’t trade this day for the world.
Check out our favorite memories from our wedding day below with my thoughts here & there, and scroll to the bottom to see it on video!
I originally asked my crafty BFF if she could replicate this amazing BHLDN veil I fell in love with online, but she surprised me day-of with the real thing!!! Note to self: When you do your first look, don’t cover both of your faces with your giant bouquet as soon as he turns around. SMH!Nevertheless, can’t you feel the love in these photos?;)We opted to do our vows privately with just us before the ceremony, and I’m so glad we did. It’s not for everyone, but it was perfect for us & let us have a sweet, intimate moment prior to the chaos of the day! Not pictured (for Curtis’ sake): the only time I’ve seen him cry, EVER was during these vows;)I Dew Flowers absolutely ROCKED my bouquet & all of the florals for the day. I also LOVE that I was surprised to find sweet peas in the mix–my mom has always called me sweet pea & I even have them tattooed on my arm. Meant to be! My precious friend Claire who officiated lead me and my girls in the most beautiful pre-ceremony prayer that gave me ALL the feels, truly one of the most special memories I’ll cherish. Our arch was handmade by our good friend JT Tragarz! I scored this little plant stand for $10 at a thrift store & the brass communion cups were thrifted as well.We did the thing!!!For our processional we used Eco-Fetti, which is 100% biodegradable & made from cornstarch, meaning no harm to the environment. Not to mention, look how well it photographs! One of my favorite photos ever of Curtis:)Our venue was actually a stylish airBnB that we transformed into our dream venue! We had to get a little creative, but it worked perfectly!Archive Rentals provided our mismatched chairs & tables, and my mother in law made our mauve velvet runners herself! All of our glassware & candleholders were thrifted by us! My mother in law made a (delish) simple white cake & our florist turned it into THIS! (complete with thrifted antique cake stand that matched our colors perfectly:)The Tattoo Booth made its debut at our wedding– a totally rad temporary tattoo station run by some of our besties! (Shoutout to owner Katie above who also shares a birthday with our anni!)And then came golden hour with Danyelle Dee Photography
HUGE Thank You to all of our vendors & guests who made our day absolutely unforgettable– a whole year later and we’re still in awe!!!
